I person is an adult after they hit the age to were they are taking care of themselves. If you are 40 and still live with your mom I do not completely consider you a functional adult. Adults are responsible.
When I think of an adult I think of a person living on there own, and working to support themselves. Being an adult is over the age of 18, which is the legal age.
Adults are taking care of themselves, and making a salary for themselves and their families. A adult is mature and hard working. That is my definition of an adult! Oh, and Mrs. Miller is a great adult.
An age does not make a person an adult. it is how they act. if you would like to know how not to act liek an adult then read my comment on the other one about immature girls or boys.
but people that are aduts need to be responsiable and trustworthy. i mean who would you turn to in a time of need when you cant trust anyone? no one, thats who. then whenever you cant express yourself then you will keep all of your emotions bundled up on the inside. then your life will become a huge mess and you will become depressed.

I think being an adult has nothing to do with how old you are. Being an adult is all about how good you can rap. If you have no flow your not an adult.
If you have sick rhymes and a mad flow then you are very much an adult. People who cant rap arent adults. the end.
What makes a person an adult? When they grow up. I don't mean grow up physically; I mean mentally. As we get older, we change. Physically, mentally, and socially. But someone cannot truly become an adult until they mature, and that's different for everybody. Some mature young, and some don't grow up until they're in their fifties and realize they spent their entire life goofing off.
But that's when they mature, when they realize it's never too late for anything. That you can have just as good a life as someone who knew what they wanted when they were six. True, they may have to work harder for it, but they can still achieve what they want. A person becomes an adult when they realize not everything is as big a deal as we make it out to be. That the things we don't pay attention to, we should.
People achieve adulthood when they see the world from a mature perspective. When they notice how shallow the way people think actually is. They become adults when they realize what's actually most important in life, like their family and friends, not petty finite things. We spend only so much time on this Earth, and quite a few spend it immaturely. They don't realize that you can't become an adult, until you actually start to act like one.

To me when you can move out of your parents house and supply for yourself, you're an adult. Any less your still a child to me. And of course that means im still a child but i dont care. Im in the same grade as 15 and 16 year olds. I used to think when you got some chest hair you became a man but...i might not get any til college so i kind of changed that theory.
Also for the people who stay with their parents but have a job and help pay bills, i guess you can be called one. Kind of stretching it but your helping the family out so thats the acception.

If a person is always fussing and arguing with people over little things, i would consider them not an adult.

But there are some at there that just cause a mess for other people to clean up.These people are sometimes burdens for the real adults and just slow them down from getting ahead in life. Responsibility is a very important key when your in adulthood. you have to know your limits when it comes to certain things. You have to do things the responsible adult would do. They have a great paying job so they can buy houses and nice cars and they have to be able to pay their bills and manage checkbooks and all of these important things.
When i said you have to be a good role model I meant you can not do bad things. You don't want to do things that you would feel guilty about if you were caught. Like experiencing with drugs, and being at places that are not appropriate. Even though you are an adult, there are somethings that you shouldn't do even though they are very tempting. So this is what it takes to be an adult.

you have to be mature in order to be called an adult. some people may think you look like an adult but inside you really aren't. your still the kid you used to be when you started high school.

I don't think that something really "makes" you an adult, I believe that being an adult is a state of mind. Sure, you can be 100 years old, but that doesn't mean that you are 100 years old inside. Becoming an adult is a state of mind.
I think that the line between a child and an adult is different for everyone. Some things force you to grow up, like a difficult childhood or a really big change. I could become an adult at 22 and someone else could become an adult at 50.
I believe that if you believe that you're an adult and you take on the responsibilities of an adult, then I view you as an adult. Some things act as catalyst and speed up the race to adulthood, but age is a number and an adult is all in your head. Just because you're old, you are NOT an adult.

i say this because many adults act like their children and try and do things that their kids do. for example, they play video games, football, and much more.

I would say when you take responsibility for your life. like getting up for work everyday and not staying out drinking all night before work because you know you have to work the next day. when your able to hold conversations with people older than you and not just talking about what you should be doing but what you are doing in life. having a child can turn immature people into adults real fast,unfortunately this doesn`t happen to everyone.
