i think texting should be allowed to a certain limit! texting should probably only be allowed when students have free time. if a student is texting while class is going on then that is rude and disrespectful. if a student is texting while class is going on, then they won't understand anything later on. this will cause grades to go down, and will increase behavioral problems. but, if a student is texting on their free time, they will fully understand their work. also they will not be distracting anyone else while their trying to work.
Texting can be very useful, therefore I think that it should be allowed at school. If your parents are traveling and need to check in with you, what is the best way to reach you? Texting. BY texting, your parents can send you a message giving you info without having to call and disrupt your class. If everyone turned their phone on silent and periodically checked their phone, it would all work out.
Whenever you are at lunch, I definitely think texting should be allowed. At lunch, you have free time. During free time why would is it so bad to text? If students were allowed to text during lunch, then the schools wouldn't have as many kids breaking the cell phone policy.
Texting can have negative effects, like cheating. But in the grand scheme, texting is innocent and should be allowed.
I think that texting should be allowed at school, just not during class unless there's a good reason. Mostly because not everyone wants to go through the office every time they need something, and because if you aren't doing anything, such as during activity, why should you not be able to text?
I can understand not texting during class, as that is the time you are supposed to be learning. But when you are not supposed to be paying attention, what's the harm? Texting's just something to do.
Teachers see texting as bad because they think we'll use it to cheat. But they know we have our phones, whether or not they know people are texting. But if they're worried about cheating, just confiscate the phones until the test is over, like how we did for the PSAT.
Texting isn't bad. It's just how and when you text that makes it inappropriate.
I think texting should only be allowed at free time. Students should not do it during class time because that is when you should be focusing on your work, but at free time when we are not doing anything special we might need to text our moms something.
Free time is our time to chill as long as we are not doing anything to harm the school code, and texting would not harm anything. In case we forgot to tell someone something and it is important texting is necessary.
But I do still feel that texting should not be used during class time unless the teacher is cool with it. However, I do think texting is appropriate for our free time.
I agree with what Merritt said. I think that during free time like lunch and tutorial, texting should be allowed. During free time, students aren't normally doing anything, so why not text? Texting is inappropriate at sometimes though, like during classes or testing. I do think that it should be allowed at sometimes during school though.
Free time is given to students to be their time to do whatever, like study or just socialize. I feel like if you have that kind if time, then you should be allowed to at least send a little text message. As long as we aren't doing anything that interferes with out school time then I think it's fine.
I don't feel like texting is okay during class time though. Some teachers, however, are okay with it at times. Classes are time for instruction, not texting. During class time, students should be intent and should give a teacher their full and undivided attention.
Texting is going to be done in school whether it's allowed or not, so why not allow it during free time?
why shouldn't texting be allowed? I mean people text all the time and this is the 21st century were aren't old hags. Texting should just go ahead and be allowed it happen regardless and people act like they don't see it going on and as long as the students get what they need it doesn't matter and if they don't that is up them and their parents. Nobody else is going to suffer. Besides sometimes texting is needed for important reason that go on outside of the school and then you have those teacher who like to text and be on the phone in class. So Darlington County might as well get rid of those so rules that are never put into affect like they claim they are. It's a waste of paper and we are going green.
YESSS now this is something i would try to get added in schools! I think that if you see someone texting you should not take it because just because they are texting doesn't mean that we are not listening to the teacher. It should be offered during breaks and lunch. I don't realy know about during class because sometimes students zone out for that text and they might miss something that is needed and if that happens that is when you ask the child a question about what you just said and if they can't answer then you take the cell phone but only if it looked like they was reading that text message so hard and it looked more important. Also you should take it when they burst out laughing while you are teaching. During test should be another reason you take itbut you give it back once its over becase the stuents could cheat you never no. I do think we should get this privilege because its fair. If we can't text during class time atleas tlet us text at lunch...its really not a big deal so why not is the question?
Texting has its advantages and disadvantages in school. Most of the time it's a distraction; therefore, I think that it should be allowed in moderation. For instance, if you allow texting outside of the classroom the students might not be as rebellious to text inside of the classroom because you give them a little bit of slack.
If teachers see that the students do it anyways, they might be more prone to give in and let the students text in class and out of class. It's hard to find students who don't text inside the classroom because most of the time the lesson that they are learning is boring.
If the teachers try to implement it into their daily routines, the students might find class time more enjoyable and not be tempted to text because they are interested in the lesson.
Texting should be allowed in school. They get in trouble for doing it anyway so why try to stop them? Students already don't listen to most of their teachers so what difference will it make?
Texting is just another way of communicating but it's quiet. Students already can't talk a lot in school so this will let the students talk without annoying the teacher.
Texting is not as bad as the teachers make it sound so everything would be fine. A lot of people would not be getting in a lot of trouble and they could talk without annoying the teacher.
I think texting should be allowed Mayo High School because everybody text anyway in every single class; we even text even in yours. They need to just let us text because that would decrease he rate of getting in trouble.
During breaks and lunch and activity we should be able to take our phones out with out someone in your face saying give me your phone Sidney. We need our relaxing time to look at our cell phones so we can text people back who text us during the day.I think texting helps you relax and focus more.
Texting is not as bad as people think and I'm out.
Yes, I really do believe that texting should be allowed in schools because EVERYONE texts, I even see you texting your man in class. But, texting should at least be allowed at lunch and breaks.
Say that someone is staying after school for tutorial and they text their mom at break saying that their staying after school.
Texting is really not that bad for kids at school. I would not say that kids she be allowed to text in class but at least at school.
I think that texting should not be allowed in school. At least not in classes. It is a distraction in class and is very hard to teach while students are looking at their phones.
At lunch, it is okay because it is during our time. None of us are in class so it would not be a problem. But people would take advantage of this if it was allowed in the classes.
Students would cheat if they had the chance and if that happens, you might as well not give the test at all. Parents could be texted or called during lunch or during a free activity outside of the classroom. It simply makes more sense this way.
i think texting should be alowed at school! texting can be very helpful when it comes to school. you could be sitting in class and next door there could be a kidnapper & you would never know it unless somebody in the class had their phone and could text you!
another reason texting would be a good idea in school because when students get out of class to go to the nurse they miss some things. they could just easily get there cell phone out and text their parents and tell them to bring them medicine or sign them out.
so therfore i think that texting should be allowed in the classrooms or really jsut anywhere at school! :)
Texting I personally think that texting should be allowed at school. It should be allowed because of a few reasons. Many teachers may not understand why but I promise us as teenagers will truly understand. Many teenagers may feel the same way I do but you’ll find out soon. I really think that texting should be allowed at school but during the appropriate times. You should be able to text during lunch, break, and activity. We should be able to text during these time s because you’ll never know what might come up. If it and emergency you can text whoever it is and tell them what’s up. So it can be during this time because we don’t do much but sit and enjoy whatever we like. And one of those options could be getting to the business on our cellular devices. I really think that we should have a little something on our phones and just enjoy life really. We need our cell phones at all times to keep us focused in class. I think the phone will really help our minds. So this is why I really think that texting should to be allowed in school.
I think texting in school should be allowed. If students were allowed to text they would not get in trouble anymore for it. But the teachers should be able to take the students phones during test. If a student did have their phones they would be tempted to cheat.
But also this has an disadvantage, if the students were texting all the time they would not pay attention to their teachers. And then their grades would began to drop. And that is not good. And also if there was a bomb at school, a cell phone could make it go off at any second. And that would not be good.
Texting in school should be allowed but at an moderation. When I say moderation I mean during free time or during the time while you are walking to your next class.
I think that texting should be allowed in school. I think texting should be allowed in school because we do it anyway. All teenagers have what adults call a "rebellious stage". This means we are going to do something even though we shouldn't. In other words we will find a way to do what we shouldn't. This is why I think texting should be allowed in school because then if it's legal to do it then it takes out the fun and thrill in it.
I think it should. Let's face it whether or whether not it's allowed everyone does it anyway.
I mean seriously it's really not that big of a deal. It's not like we're getting into fights or bringing weapons to school. It's just a phone, or as some may prefer it be called a cellular device.
It's not hurting anybody. So I think it should be allowed. You might need to talk to your mom about something. Or maybe you have a family emergency and you need to stay in contact. You can't do that if your phone gets taken away.
i think texting should be allowed to a certain limit! texting should probably only be allowed when students have free time. if a student is texting while class is going on then that is rude and disrespectful.

Yes it should. Texting is great and wonderful. It allows us to communicate with our friends without being noisy, loud, spoil sports.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should just take our phones during tests so we couldnt josh around and cheat. that would be no good and garbage.
Anyways texting would be good in class. then people wouldnt feel the need to talk. Also it might help us to look up information or use a calculator.
yes, i think texting should be allowed in school. It's the students choice to get an education. If they don't want to learn that's their choice.
ReplyDeleteThey could also be texting the parent to try to find things out. Some kids do things after school and they need to tell their parents.
Kids are going to text at school no matter what, so you might as well allow it.
